In the future all electronic equipment will be designed to be thinner and thinner. There are even some electronics to be designed to be more flexible. The researchers made that all possible. The researchers have managed to create a display that is named Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED).This display is very thin, flexible, and has a protective layer, thus enabling creation of electronic skin (e-skin) to detect the blood oxygen level, heart rate sensors e-skin for athletes and other applications.
OLED invention is intended to integrate electronic devices with a human body to increase or restore the function of the body, so in other words to be used as a biomedical application. The integration of electronic devices with a human body it is becoming a trend researchers around the world.In particular, the electronics that can be used must be thin and flexible to minimize the impact where they attach to the body. However, most of the devices developed so far require millimeter thickness and made of materials such as glass or plastic substrate with limited flexibility. Meanwhile, usually organic devices with micrometer-scale thin flexible yet stable enough to survive in the open air.
This research could also be directed towards the manufacture of mobile phones too. The advent of mobile phones have changed the way we communicate.While this communication tool designed to get smaller and smaller over time. But sometimes that is not practical is that device shall we take to use it. Would not it be more practical to use the device at all times attached to the body and can even show emotion or level of stress or anxiety us. Besides not having to carry the device at all times, at some point it might be to improve the way we interact with the people around us.
